Biomedical Engineering is an upcoming field of technology. This branch was introduced in the year 2013.

I have joined Biomedical Engineering here because when I entered here for a visit my mind was insisting me to join because our college is providing tools and techniques for research, diagnosis and treatment to address medical and biological problems. We have many labs in our college in the field of biomedical engineering to be stronger in practical knowledge. Some of them are Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pathology, etc. This field focuses on biological medicine, innovative biologic materials, diagnosis treatment rehabilitation and injury mechanics and informatics, instrumentation, tissue engineering, biosensors, medical imaging systems, biomechanics and bio-material design. It has a lot of opportunities.

The department of Civil Engineering was started in the year 2010 with an intake of 60 students. Our College promotes intellectual development to students interested in the field of Civil Engineering. Our college conducts many workshops, symposium, guest lectures, and industrial visit for each and every department in our college. Our brothers and sisters of this college have done their final year projects and some of them were introduced in the project journals. The department of CSE, EEE, ECE was introduced in the year 2010.Our college produces a lot of facilities to improve the students health and as well as knowledge. We have library, internet Wi-Fi, Transport, Canteen, Hostel, Sports, etc.

Best Bio-Medical Engineering College – AGNI

Having finished my schooling, I wanted to be a part of an institution that has a campus with well-built classrooms, fully equipped laboratories, workshops, hi-tech computer centre, a well-stocked library and a very good infrastructure. Agni College of Technology is the one I searched for. Established in the year 2001 with the name, Srinivasa College of Engineering and Technology, this institution is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai; approved by AICTE/UGC and accredited by NBA, New Delhi. My college is ranked 16th among the top 20 colleges in Tamil Nadu and is one of India’s leading engineering colleges located in Chennai.

My area of interest in this institution is the biomedical engineering course which was inaugurated in the year 2013. This is a fast emerging field of technology. This branch of study is an “application of engineering principles and design concepts to the field of medicine and biology for the purpose of healthcare”.

Biomedical engineering, compared to other giants in the engineering world is relatively new but gaining on fast and establishing itself as a branch of engineering which can stand on its own. This institution gives me encouragement and guidance in my goal of pursuing this study.

One of the major advantages of “My College” is the highly qualified faculty with rich experience both in academics and industries. This bunch of super-talented faculty guides the students in such a way that they are trained not only to understand the concepts theoretically but also to apply them practically. The management also encourages the students to a great extent. They provide scholarships to meritorious students to pursue civil service exams, GATE, etc.

My college has started Agni’s Centre for Research and Development (Agni’s CRD) to provide high quality research training for students. The centre for research and development was established and inaugurated by the renowned scientist of ISRO and the project director of Chandrayan, Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai on 14^th April 2012.

A Divine Light for Students

As the name suggests this college is “A Divine Light” (AGNI) for the students. So before diving in I would like you to let you know about me, as for me I was never the type of the student who longed for a B.E degree. But those ideas didn’t last even a week after I became an AGNITE. Here they found out the best in me and showed me a brand new me who even I didn’t see, they recognized my ability and made them unique.

Now talking about the Faculties, Professors and Management I’m pretty sure that you would never find any of their kind some were else, I am not just saying because they don’t just make us learn they INSPIRE us to do that. And every time we struggle with studies someone is there for us. So as for academics concern AGNI has its own reputation.

As for an engineering college, it is necessary to have some basic INFRASTRUCTURE. Well in case of AGNI there is nothing BASIC. From our classrooms to technical labs, even the canteen is very much extravagant. Coming to the locations and surrounding they have a wonderful and peaceful environment so that there isn’t any hindrance to their students or their progress.

Oh almost forgot it, we have this CRD (Career Resource and Development) that makes us open our BRAINS and let the EINSTIENs and KALAMs out. CRD helps us to work on projects not only regarding our department but also on other departments so that we gain knowledge on every nook and corner in engineering. CRD doesn’t collaborate with a particular batch of students hence it is for anyone who has DREAMS and GUTS to work on it.

The ONE thing that makes me PROUD to say that I am an AGNITE is “EALAM ARIVU” an educational program which enables the children of OUR villages to show their talents and share their ideas in building INDIA. This is for every kid who dreamt of getting acknowledged for his science it represents him or her, any one similar; they are the reason they do this for.

So as for concluding I would say ‘AGNI is the best place for a LOVELY present and BRIGHT future’

Dr. Kalam hails “Agni’s Ignite 2015” – a step towards transforming Indian Science and Research

Agni College of Technology, Thalambur, Chennai organized Developed India 2020 summit at the College premises on Friday, 17th April 2015. The event marked the celebration of Agni’s Ignite 2015 Science Project Competition for School Children. His Excellency Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the Former President of India was the chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing a mega gathering of 3000 students from over 200 schools from across Tamil Nadu, young engineers, teachers and academicians, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam advised students and aspiring young scientists to set their aims high, continuously acquire knowledge and put in hard work and perseverance in all their endeavors.

Interacting with the Prize winning students, Dr. Kalam congratulated the winners and urged them to dream big. He said to the student scientists and young innovators during the event to carve a niche for their own and to become unique in ones chosen field. Calling technology the backbone of the nation, Kalam urged the budding young scientists to think for the welfare and development of entire humanity.  Inventions and discoveries are from creative minds with constant efforts, the pioneer nuclear scientist said.

In a rather brainstorming Q&A session, Dr.Kalam made students themselves come up with the solutions to various issues through interspersed answers with questions of his own, which created a positive vibe among students.

“Every youth wants to be unique but the world around you is doing its best to make you mediocre. Parents and teachers constantly compare you to others and ask you to be like them. You have to battle it out so that you reach your destined place of being unique,“ he said.



Dr.Kalam expressed his happiness and congratulated the 30 students – The District Level Winners of Agni’s Ignite who had presented their Projects during the day. While observing the Project Exhibition- he praised Agni’s Centre for Research and Development for creating platform for the student community to exhibit their talent through Agni’s Ignite 2015 Science Project competition.  Dr. Kalam appreciated all the projects that have been showcased to him and spent quality time in interacting and motivating the student scientists and in particularly he praised the Simple Cycle Boat of J. Murugan a 9th std young scientist from Madurai District, Saruguvalayapatty Govt.Hr.Sec. School. He also gave his guidance to approach National Water Foundation for funding the project. He emphasized on research as the vital tool for innovation and excellence, and also called educationists, students and industries to take the momentum forward. Dr. Kalam acclaimed the brains behind Agni Ignite 2015, which according to him is the right step at the right time in the right direction towards his Vision 2020 for India.

Welcoming the gathering, Mr. J. Agnishwar, Director, Agni CRD traced the genesis behind the Ignite-2015 and declared that Agni’s Ignite drew inspiration from Dr.Kalam and his vision for India, and aims at giving a new perspective to science and research.

“AGNI IGNITE 2015” is a mega Science Project Competition for school students held across all 32 districts of Tamil Nadu. 30000 students from over 7000 schools were participated in the competition held in two levels and out of which a handful of 60 brightest participants are selected for the third and final level of  reality show titled “Ezham Arivu, where the students will be showcasing their inventions and innovations on a national TV” he said.

Mr. Agnishwar, expressed his pleasure that the event has set a new precedent, an amazing feet in converting the youth’s dreams into the thoughts for tomorrow.

On the occasion Mr. Syed Munir Hoda, Honorary Advisor, Agni College of Technology congratulated the prize winners. Dr. S.R.R. Senthil Kumar, Principal, Agni College of Technology proposed the vote of thanks.

Kirtanya Krishnamurthy, Founder and CEO, Mind Fresh Training, Dr.T.S. Natarajan, Professor, IIT,Madras and Mr. J. Sujith Kumar, Head HR, Infosys, Chennai also spoke on the occasion.
